YoLo

Frequently asked questions

Is YoLo really free?

Yes. There are no ads, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. You don't need an account either.

Why is there no catch?

YoLo started because I was annoyed by loyalty card apps full of ads and paywalls. It has no servers of its own that cost money to run, because your cards live on your iPhone and in your own iCloud.

What happens to my cards when I get a new iPhone?

If iCloud is on for YoLo (Settings → your name → iCloud → Saved to iCloud → YoLo), your cards are restored automatically after you install the app on your new iPhone. The developer cannot see your cards; they sit in your own private iCloud storage.

How does sharing with family work?

Open Settings in YoLo and tap Share Cards with Family. Invite someone with the email address or phone number of their Apple ID. When they accept, you both see the same cards, and cards either of you adds show up on both phones. You decide whether they can make changes or only look. They can leave at any time.

Everyone who is invited needs YoLo installed and iCloud turned on.

Which barcodes can it scan?

QR codes, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, ITF, PDF417, Aztec and Data Matrix. That covers nearly every loyalty card.

The logo or name of my store isn't recognised.

You can type the name yourself. If the store is missing from the list, tap Suggest this store. Only the store name, a guess of its website, the barcode type, your language and the app version are sent, never your card number. It helps me add it to the app.

Is my data safe?

Your cards are stored on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your private iCloud storage. You can lock the app with Face ID or your passcode. YoLo has no analytics, no ads and no trackers. See the privacy page for the full details.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Your cards and barcodes are on your iPhone, so you can show them offline. Store logos, iCloud sync and sending a suggestion need a connection.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone with iOS 17 or later. There is no Android version at the moment.

How do I delete my data?

Delete a card in the app to remove it. To remove everything, delete the app. To also clear what is stored in iCloud, go to Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → YoLo and choose Delete Data.

What does the name mean?

YoLo stands for Your Loyalty App. It's also a hint that you only live once, so you shouldn't spend it hunting for a loyalty card at the checkout.

I found a bug or have a feature request.

Great, please tell me. Use the contact form. Every message is read by the person who built the app.
